WALT FLOOD, Vice-Chairman, Sub-District #2
(Waikiki Neighborhood Board No. 9)

Aloha. Thank you for your support ("vote") in the Honolulu/Waikiki Neighborhood Board election. This re-election puts your representative into another 2-year term, for a total of eight (8) terms, over the last 30 years.

Below are some concerns which need to be addressed by the Waikiki Neighborhood Board #9. You might not agree with my position on some, but please allow me to hear from you, such that I can represent or advocate your position, on your behalf, at the Waikiki Board.

1. CRIME
Theft on the beach. We need more video cameras, to catch the thieves.
Vehicles stolen from Condos
Felons in Waikiki
Prostitutes and Drug Dealers on the streets
Condo/Apt/Co-Op projects meeting with HPD and HFD

2. LEASEHOLD/FEE SIMPLE CONVERSION

Condos and Co-op projects.   Click here  to read the Leasehold versus Fee Simple document, or the link on the left side of this page.

3. NOISE POLLUTION
Buses on Kuhio and Kalakaua Ave
Garbage trucks in AM
Fire crackers in Waikiki. It's time to stop this pollution.
Police, Ambulance and Fire Truck sirens in the early mornings.

4. GRAFFITI:  Click here  For pictures of some of the Graffiti in Waikiki.

5. BUSINESS SIGN VIOLATIONS: Illegal Business Signs: to view pictures of some of the illegal business signs in Waikiki.

6. ILLEGAL PEDDLERS and MERCHANTS: Peddlers click to view pictures of some of the Peddlers and Merchants on the streets in Waikiki.

7. Fire Safety Tip: Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and the second major cause of death among older adults. If you are cooking and must leave the kitchen, even for only a few minutes, turn off the stove. Keep a fire extinguisher (with a minimum rating of 2A 10BC) in or near your kitchen and learn how to use it. Inspect the fire extinguisher regularly to ensure that it has not expired.

8. Car Boom-Boxes. What happened with the Friday Night HPD Squad to stop this noise?

9. STREET PEOPLE
Homeless: They are sleeping on the sidewalks, beaches, and parks in Waikiki.

Hawkers click to view pictures of some of the Hawkers, Street Entertainers and Beggars on the streets in Waikiki.

"Street Entertainers": Need to be licensed and controlled. It's out of control!

10. FT DERUSSY
Tennis court reservations for Seniors and Vets.
Propose the City to build a Parking garage for residents and visitors, on Ft. DeRussy property.
Police the beach and recreation areas for drug dealers, vagrants and homeless.

11. STREET PARKING
Remove the meters from the side-streets from Kuhio to Ala Wai.
Construct a parking garage(s) for visitors and residents.
Paint the curbs, where signs are posted prohibit parking, so residents/visitors won't get tickets.

12. INSTALL/REPAIR/UPGRADE TOILETS IN RESTROOMS IN PARKS

13. BRIDGE ACROSS THE ALA WAI CANAL
The City has been talking about a bridge across the Ala Wai Canal, from Kalaimoku Street to University Ave, for years. We need a more direct connection to the Freeway, from Waikiki.
